Ion exchange of strontium and caesium into amorphous zirconium phosphates

Abstract

The ion exchange of the radioisotopes 89 Sr and 137 Cs onto various ionic forms of amorphous zirconium phosphate has been studied. Ion exchange isotherms have been constructed at three temperatures (298, 313 and 333 K) and evaluated to give the thermodynamic parameters ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° for the exchange processes. Discussions of ion exchange selectivities, with comparisons to past work on similar materials, have been made.
