Dicationic iron(II) complexes with dihydrogen trans to π-acid ligands: trans-[Fe(η2-H2)(L)(dppe) 2]2+ (L = CO or CNH). Is there Fe–H2 π-back bonding?

Abstract

The new, electron-deficient iron(II) dihydrogen complexes trans-[Fe(η 2 -H 2 )(L)(dppe) 2 ] 2+ (L = CO or CNH) were surprisingly stable with respect to the loss of H 2 even though there is little Fe–H 2 π-back bonding.
