Abstract
Reaction of trimethylgallium with trifluoroacetamidine
[H
2
NC(CF
3
)NH] resulted in an unusual elimination
reaction, and yielded the air-stable volatile metallacycle
[GaMe
2
{HNC(CF
3
)NC(CF
3
)NH}]
which shows a planar six-membered (GaNCNCN) ring; a related aluminium
system [AlMe
2
{HNC(Ph)NC(Ph)NH}] was formed using
benzamidine [H
2
NC(Ph)NH].
