Synthetic ribofuranose-containing polymers show catalytic activity in the hydrolysis of phosphodiesters

Abstract

Synthetic polymers containing ribofuranose rings as pendent groups catalyse the cleavage of DNA and the hydrolysis of phosphodiesters with a rate acceleration of 10 3 compared with that of the uncatalysed reactions.
