Novel ring-opening reaction of tetrahydrofuran promoted by a cationic uranium amide compound

Abstract

The cationic uranium amide compound [U(cp*)2(NMe2)(thf)][BPh4](cp*=η-C5Me5) reacts with tetrahydrofuran (thf) in the presence of free amine as catalyst to give the heterocyclic metallacycle [(cp*)2[graphic omitted])][BPh4]·0.5thf; the crystal structure of the pyridine solvate determined.
