Cyclotriveratrylene polarisation assisted aggregation of C60

Abstract

Excess cyclotriveratrylene (CTV) and C60 in toluene results in micelle-like aggregation of the fullerenes arising from CTV polarisation of the fullerene, leading to a one-dimensional zigzag polymeric array of fullerenes in the solid state, each in the cavity of a CTV molecule.
