Electrogenerated chemiluminescence using platinum electrodes with hydrogen peroxide pre-treatment
Abstract
A novel hydrogen peroxide pre-treatment of platinum electrodes is described. The method is applied to the electrogenerated chemiluminescence of luminol using air-segmented flow and an improved response and precision are reported. A rectilinear calibration for luminol is reported from 10–10 mol dm–3 to 10–5 mol dm–3 with a LOD of 1 × 10–10 mol dm–3. An explanation in terms of surface effects on the electrode surface is given, supported by cyclic voltammetry results.
