A mononuclear copper(II) complex of an unsymmetrical dinucleating ligand

Abstract

The unsymmetrical and potentially dinucleating ligand 4-bromo-2-(2-hydroxyethyliminomethyl)-6-(morpholin-4-ylmethyl)phenol (H2L1) has been prepared via a Mannich reaction under non-aqueous aprotic conditions. Reaction with copper(II) yielded mono- and di-nuclear complexes; the crystal structure of the mononuclear complex [Cu(H2L1)][CIO4]2·H2O·MeOH has been determined.
