Hydroruthenation of prop-2-ynyltriphenylphosphonium bromide: synthesis, crystal structure and reactions of [RuBr(CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CHCH2PPh3)(CO)(PPh3)2]PF6

Abstract

The reaction of the complex [RuClH(CO)(PPh3)3] with prop-2-ynyltriphenylphosphonium bromide ([Ph3PCH2C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CH]Br) followed by NH4PF6 provides the crystallographically characterised salt [RuBr(CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CHCH2PPh3)(CO)(PPh3)2]PF6 which by virtue of the coordinative unsaturation at the ruthenium centre undergoes addition of the ligands CNC6H3Me2-2,6, and CO to Ru and insertion of SO2 into the Ru–C σ-bond.
