Neutron activation analysis of environmental materials

Abstract

Several possible methods for the analysis of important environmental materials have been examined. The role of nuclear-physical methods, including activation methods using reactor neutrons is highlighted. The main steps of analysis (sample preparation, irradiation conditions, information processing and interpretation of results) is discussed. Attention is also paid to the necessity of using other methods of analysis, and the coordination and widening of International collaborative programme in the field of ecological investigations.
