Synthesis and solution multinuclear magnetic resonance studies of homoleptic copper(I) complexes of sulfur, selenium and tellurium donor ligands

Abstract

The complexes [CuL4][O3SCF3](L = Me2S, Me2Se, Me2Te, Ph2S, Ph2Se or Ph2Te) and [Cu(L–L)2]PF6[L–L = RE(CH2)2ER (E = S or Se, R = Me or Ph); RE(CH2)3ER (E = S, Se or Te; R = Me or Ph)] have been prepared and characterised by analysis, IR, and in particular multinuclear NMR spectroscopy (1H, 77Se, 125Te and 63Cu). Variable-temperature NMR studies have been used to probe various exchange processes occurring in solution. For a limited number of complexes 63Cu NMR resonances have been observed, the first examples from Group 16 donor complexes.
