Synthesis, photophysical properties and crystal structure of tetra-n-butylammonium bis(maleonitriledithiolato)-nitridoosmate(VI)

Abstract

Treatment of [NBun][OsNCl4] with 2 equivalents of Na2(mnt)(mnt = maleonitriledithiolate) gave [NBun4][OsN(mnt)2]1 in good yield. The structure of 1 has been confirmed by an X-ray diffraction analysis, Os[triple bond, length half m-dash]N being 1.639(8)Å. The complex shows emission from the 3[(dxy)(dπ*)] excited state.
