Synthesis of homo- and hetero-dinuclear complexes containing alkynyl bridges. Molecular structure of cis,trans-[(OC)(C6F5)2Pt(µ-η2-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)Pt(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(PPh3)2]

Abstract

Terminal organotransition-metal acetylides trans-[Pt(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)2L2](R = Ph or But, L = PPh3 or PEt3), cis-[Pt(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CBut)2L2](L = PPh3 or PEt3), [Pt(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)2(dppe)](R = But or SiMe3, dppe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) and [Au(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)(PPh3)](R = Ph or But) reacted with cis-[Pt(C6F5)2(CO)(thf)](thf = tetrahydrofuran) to give, under alkynylation of the fragment Pt(C6F5)2(CO), the µ-η2-acetylide-bridged dinuclear zwitterionic complexes [(OC)(C6F5)2Pt(µ-η2-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)M+Ln]. The phenylacetylide complex [(OC)(C6F5)2Pt(µ-η2-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)Pt+(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(PPh3)2] has been characterised by X-ray structural analysis.
