β-Correction spectrophotometric determination of beryllium in waste water with titan yellow
Abstract
Beryllium has been found to react with titan yellow (TTY) 2nd can be determined by β-correction spectrophotometry. The reaction is sensitive and -selective in the presence of EDTA to mask other ions. β-Correction spectrophotometry can eliminate the effect of excess TTY, increasing analytical sensitivity and decreasing error. Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0–2.0 µg of beryllium per 25 ml of final solution. The detection limit is 0.003 mg l–1. It has been applied to the determination of trace amounts of beryllium in waste water with satisfactory results.
