Improvement in detection limits in graphite furnace diode laser atomic absorption spectrometry by wavelength modulation technique. Plenary lecture

Abstract

A significant reduction in measurable absorbance is demonstrated by application of a wavelength modulation technique using diode lasers in laser atomic absorption spectrometry in graphite tube atomizers. While rubidium and lanthanum are measured by absorption of fundamental diode laser radiation at 780.03 and 670.95 nm from the ground and an excited state, respectively, aluminium is determined by deep blue light at 396.15 nm produced by the second harmonic generation of diode laser radiation in an LilO3 crystal.
