Kinetics and mechanism of the substitution of [(NH3)5RuIII(edta)RuIII(H2O)]2+(edta = ethylenediaminetetraacetate) by thiourea in aqueous solution

Abstract

The substitution of the H2O ligand of the complex [(NH3)5RuIII(edta)RuIII(H2O)]2+(edta = ethylenediaminetetraacetate) by thiourea was studied spectrophotometrically. Rate and activation parameters are found to be consistent with an associative interchange mechanism. Experimetal results are discussed with reference to literature data for the corresponding substitution of mononuclear [RuIII(edta)(H2O)].
