Keruffaride, a new all-ciscyclopentanepentol-containing metabolite from the okinawan marine sponge luffariella sp.

Abstract

A new lipid containing the all-ciscydopentanepentol moiety, keruffaride, has been isolated from the Okinawan marine sponge Luffariella sp. and its structure elucidated on the basis of spectral and chemical means; this is the first isolation of an all-cis cyclopentanepentol-containing metabolite from natural sources.
