Materials chemistry communications. Synthesis and optical spectroscopy of monomeric and polymeric cobalt σ-acetylide complexes

Abstract

Optical spectra of the complexes, trans-ClCoN4C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CC6H5, trans-CoN4(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CC6H5)2 and [graphic omitted]CoN4C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C-p-C6H4C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C[graphic omitted]n, (where N4= 3,9-dimethyl-4,8-diazaundecane-2,10-dione dioxime) show absorptions associated with π-π* transitions of the acetylenic unit and indicate an extended π-electron conjugation through the metal sites on the chain in the polymeric complex.
