Excess volumes of binary mixtures of triethylamine and tributylamine with alkanes and alkylamines at 298.15, 303.15 and 313.15 K

Abstract

Excess volumes (VE) and their temperature dependence (dVE/dT) have been investigated from density measurements, using a vibrating densitometer DMA 60/602, for binary mixtures of triethylamine and tributylamine with hexane, octane, iso-octane (2,2,4-trimethylpentane), propylamine, butylamine, hexylamine and octylamine, and of tributylamine with decylamine and dodecylamine. Thermal expansion coefficients α and excess thermal expansion coefficients αE were evaluated from the results. The Prigogine–Flory–Patterson theory has been applied to estimate interaction, free volume and internal pressure contributions to VE and to estimate dVE/dT for the mixtures.
