Intermolecular vibrations of the dimethyl ether–water complex. A matrix isolation study
Abstract
The infrared spectrum of the dimethyl ether–water complex has been studied from 10 to 4000 cm–1 in neon, argon and krypton matrices. The in-plane and out-of-plane shear intramolecular motions of complexed water have been observed. A combination band between the intramolecular bound OH stretch and the intermolecular stretch has been observed. The intermolecular bands are significantly sharper and easier to observe in argon and krypton matrices than in the neon matrix.
