Determination of sulfadimidine in medicated animal feeds

Abstract

A method is given for the determination of sulfadimidine in medicated animal feeds. The sulfadimidine is extracted from the finely ground feed by means of aqueous acetonitrile. This solution is filtered and the sulfadimidine collected on an ion-exchange cartridge. It is then eluted from the cartridge and detemined by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection at 265 nm.
