Lonitoside: a novel monoterpenoid macrolide diglycoside from Lonicera nitida

Abstract

A new macrolide monoterpene diglycoside, lonitoside 1, has been isolated from Lonicera nitida E. H. Wilson (Caprifoliaceae), and its structure elucidated as (E)-(6S)-8-[β-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1 ″→ 6′)-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy]-2,6-dimethyloct-2-eno-1,4″-lactone by spectroscopic and degradation methods.
