Gas-phase ion complexes of a perfluorinated cryptand with O2 and F

Abstract

The formation and characterization of gas-phase ion complexes of a perfluorinated cryptand, perfluoro 4,7,13,16,21,24-hexaoxa-1,10-diazabicyclo[8.8.8]hexacosane, with F and O2 demonstrates that intrinsic host–guest chemistry may be examined in the solvent-free environment of a mass spectrometer.
