Reaction of Cp2ZrMe2 with propane-1,3-dithiol affords the early metal macrocycle Cp2Zr(µ-SCH2CH2CH2S)2ZrCp21; X-ray structural data confirm that this species acts as a macrocyclic metalloligand for AgI yielding [{Cp2Zr(µ-SCH2CH2CH2S)2ZrCp2}Ag]BPh42 in which AgI is pseudo-tetrahedrally coordinated by the sulphur atoms of 1.
