Inhibition of the peroxidase-like activity of manganese tetrakis(sulphophenyl)porphyrin by pyridine and other substances

Abstract

The inhibition of the peroxidase-like activity of manganese tetrakis(sulphophenyl)porphyrin (Mn-TPPS4) by pyridine and other substances has been studied. The inhibition by spin-trapping species is non-reversible. The constants for the competitively linear reversible inhibitors pyridine and p-chlorophenol have been determined from the Michaelis–Menten equation by using H2O2 as substrate. The mechanism of the peroxidase-like activity of Mn-TPPS4 is discussed.
