Biosynthesis of (R)-2-hydroxybut-3-enylglucosinolate (progoitrin) from [3,4-3H]but-3-enylglucosinolate in Brassica napus

Abstract

The synthesis of [3,4-3H]but-3-enylglucosinolate is described and its role in (R)-2-hydroxybut-3-enylglucosinolate biosynthesis is discussed. This is the first time radio labelled but-3-enylglucosinolate has been synthesized and its incorporation into (R)-2-hydroxybut-3-enylglucosinolate demonstrated.
