Simultaneous electrochemical electron paramagnetic resonance investigation of the reduction of p-nitrobenzyl chloride
Abstract
The reduction of p-nitrobenzyl chloride in acetonitrile has been studied by cyclic voltammetry and simultaneous electrochemical electron paramagnetic resonance (SEEPR). Using an electrochemical cell containing a platinum helix working electrode the detection of the intermediate radical anion and radical was attempted. The follow-up products of the reduced species were detected. A new interpretation of a previously published spectrum is given.
