Neutral pentanuclear Pt3Ag2 complexes: crystal structure of trans-[PtCl2{(µ-SC4H8)Pt(C6F5)32-C6H5Me)}2]

Abstract

By treating [NBu4]2[trans-PtX2{(µ-SC4H8)Pt(C6F5)3}2](X = Cl or Br) with AgClO4(molar ratio 1 :n, where n= 1–4) in dichloromethane–toluene solution the neutral pentametallic complexes trans-[PtX2{(µ-SC4H8)(C6F5)3PtAg(η2-C6H5Me)}2][X = Cl, (1); or Br, (2)] have been obtained. The structure of (1) has been established by X-ray diffraction and shows that two new Pt–Ag bonds have been formed as the result of the addition of two Ag(η2-C6H5Me) fragments to the terminal platinum atoms of the trinuclear starting complex.
