Dynamic processes of trinuclear carbonyl clusters [M3(CO)12](M = Fe, Ru, or Os) and their derivatives

Abstract

The dynamic motion that the trinuclear carbonyls [M3(CO)12](M = Fe, Ru, or Os), and their derivatives [M3(CO)12–nLn] undergo in both the solid and solution has been examined. Evidence is presented to suggest that the fluxional behaviour and the isomerisation processes they undergo may be best interpreted in terms of the Ligand Polyhedral Model.
