Notes. Hydrido(benzochalcogenadiazole) complexes of ruthenium: crystal structure of [RuCl(H)(CO)(PPh3)(SN2C6H4)]

Abstract

The complex [RuCl(H)(CO)(PPh3)3] reacts with 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole (C6H4N2S) or 2,1,3-benzoselenadiazole (C6H4N2Se) to provide the compounds [RuCl(H)(CO)(PPh3)2(EN2C6H4)](E = S or Se). An X-ray diffraction study of trans-[RuCl(H)(CO)(PPh3)2(SN2C6H4)] established the mode of heterocycle co-ordination as being through one nitrogen atom and cis to the hydrido ligand. The crystal structure also shows an unusual four-centre interaction between the unco-ordinated N–S multiple bonds of the two molecules of the asymmetric unit.
