Synthesis of tetrakis-carborane-carboxylate esters of 2,4-bis-(α,β-dihydroxyethyl)-deuteroporphyrin IX

Abstract

A novel, sterically hindered ester of 2,4-bis-(α,β-dihydroxyethyl)deuteroporphyrin IX containing four carborane cages is prepared by the reaction of the acid chloride of 1,2-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane-carboxylic acid with the bis-glycol in the presence of 4-dimethylaminopyridine.
