Pseudoferrocenes

Abstract

Dichloromethane facilitates clean high-yield double addition of carbanions to [(η6-arene)2Fe]2+ dications affording bis(η5-cyclohexadienyl)iron or ‘pseudoferrocene’ compounds in accord with the Davies, Green, and Mingos rules; the crystal structure of one example has been determined.
