The preparation and X-ray structure of V(N3S2)(dtbc)(phen)·CHCl3(dtbc = di-t-butylcatecholate, phen = phenanthroline)

Abstract

Reaction of [V(µ-Cl)(N₃S₂)Cl]₂ with phenanthroline (phen) gives V(N₃S₂)Cl₂(phen)(1) which undergoes further reaction with 2,5-Bu^t₂C₆H₂O₂^2–(di-t-butylcatecholate) to give the title compound (2), which is air stable and the first example of a neutral mixed ligand tris bidentate V%^([A-Z]+) complex to be prepared; the X-ray crystal structure of (2) is reported.
