Analysis of naphtha fractions from hydrocracked biocrudes by gas chromatography
Abstract
With a view to developing petrocrops as a source of hydrocarbon fuels, the indigenous laticiferous species Euphorbia royleana, Calotropis gigantea and Cryptostegia grandiflora were examined. The results of detailed and groupwise analysis of the naphtha fractions obtained by hydrocracking the biocrudes of these species for hydrocarbons suggest that the quality of the naphtha depends not only on the catalyst used but also on the composition of the biocrude. These naphtha samples are more similar in composition to the naphtha obtained from crude alkanes.
