Pre-concentration and separation of metal ions on an N-phenylhydroxamic acid resin

Abstract

A procedure for attaching the N-phenylhydroxamic acid group to poly(styrene-co-maleic acid) cross-linked with divinylbenzene is described. The extraction of ten metal ions as a function of pH and the kinetics of their sorption were studied. The application of this resin to the enrichment and chromatographic separation of metal ions from their mixtures is also described.
