Travelling waves in the acidic nitrate–ferroin reaction

Abstract

Travelling waves have been studied both experimentally and theoretically in the autocatalytic oxidation of ferroin by nitrate in an acidic medium. In order to explain the observed wave velocity vs. reactant concentration curves an analytical formula has been obtained. A simple estimate of the width of the wavefront i spresented.
