Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of [ReO(Cl){(2-OC6H4CHNCH2CH2OCH2)2}], an example of four-co-ordination by a potentially sexidentate ligand
Abstract
The reaction between [ReOCl4]– and the Schiff-base ligand (2-HOC6H4CHNCH2CH2OCH2)2 in ethanol affords the monomeric complex [ReO(Cl){(2-OC6H4CHNCH2CH2OCH2)2}]. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study shows that the rhenium atom has a distorted octahedral co-ordination geometry in which the ether oxygens of the potentially sexidentate ligand remain unco-ordinated so that an 11-membered chelate ring is formed.
