Monolayers of macrocyclic polyamides at the air–water interface
Abstract
The poly-N-acylated derivatives (1b), (1c), (1d), and (2d) of the macrocyclic polyamines [18]-N6(1a) and [30]-N10(2a) form Langmuir monolayers in which the macrocycle lies flat on the water surface while the alkane chains tilt upright in the compressed film.
