The saturated macrocycle 6,13-diamino-6,13-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradecane (L1) co-ordinates to FeIII as a hexadentate ligand, forming an octahedral complex whose X-ray crystal structure, spectroscopic and redox properties have been determined.
