A novel bidentate bonding mode for a triarylphosphine ligand: the synthesis and X-ray structure analysis of the mixed-metal cluster compound [Cu2Ru4(µ3-H)2(CO)12{µ-P(CH2Ph)2(η2-CH2Ph)}]
Abstract
Hydrogen-1 n.m.r. data and X-ray structure analysis show that treatment of [N(PPh3)2]2[Ru4H2(CO)12] with [Cu(NCMe)4]PF6 at –30 °C, followed by addition of two equivalents of P(CH2Ph)3 gives a novel cluster compound [Cu2Ru4(µ3-H)2(CO)12{P(CH2Ph)3}] in which the phosphine ligand bridges two copper atoms of the capped trigonal bipyramidal metal framework via bonds from the phosphorus atom and an η2-(CH2Ph) ring.
