Determination of methylene bis(thiocyanate) and 2-(thiocyanatomethylthio)benzo[d]thiazole in leather process liquors by high-performance liquid chromatography

Abstract

Determination of the levels of commercial fungicides containing methylene bis(thiocyanate) and/or 2-(thiocyanatomethylthio)benzo[d]thiazole before and after treatment of leather can be used to give an indication of the effectiveness of the treatment, as measured by the uptake. High-performance liquid chromatography has been used to measure the concentrations of fungicide in process liquors and found to give reliable results after extraction of the liquor with dichloromethane.
