Mixed metal complexes in solution. Part 5. Equilibrium and conformational study of heterobinuclear metal(II)–isoserine complexes in aqueous solution
Abstract
Simple and mixed-metal complexes of isoserine with zinc(II), cadmium(II), and cobalt(II) have been investigated in aqueous solution. Potentiometric data have shown the formation of dimeric species with two hydroxyl-deportonated isoserine molecules. Proton n.m.r. measurements indicate that the statiscal high stability of the mixed-metal dimers may be correlated with the favourable conformations permitted by the tetrahedral co-ordination of the zinc(II) ion.
