The fluoro(hydrocyano)krypton(II) cation [HCN–Kr–F]+; the first example of a krypton–nitrogen bond
Abstract
The first example of krypton bonded to an element other than fluorine has been provided by the synthesis of the novel [HCN–Kr–F]+ cation, prepared as its AsF6– salt by low-temperature reaction of HCNH+AsF6– with KrF2 in HF or BrF5 as solvent, and characterized by low-temperature Raman spectroscopy and 1H, 13C, 15N, and 19F n.m.r. spectroscopy.
