Polynuclear organometal oxides: synthesis and structure of [(η5-C5Me5)ZrCl]33-O)(µ3-OH)(µ-OH)3·2THF (THF = tetrahydrofuran)

Abstract

Base hydrolysis of (η5-C5Me5)ZrCl3 in tetrahydrofuran (THF) yields [(η5-C5Me5)ZrCl]3(O)(OH)4·2THF which, according to X-ray structural analysis, contains a triangular Zr3 core capped above and below by µ3-O and µ3-OH groups and edge-bridged by three µ2-OH groups.
