Bleomycin metal site models with apical imidazole or sulphydryl donors

Abstract

New synthetic models for the bleomycin (BLM) metal ion binding site which contain the terminal binding group of imidazole (HAPH) or S–Me, SCH2C6H4OMe, and –SH (SAPH 1–3) derivatives have been prepared; FeII(HAPH)/O2 yielded 53%, and FeII(HPAH)/H2O2 63%, of the HO· generated by FeII(BLM)/O2.
