Application of Kubelka-Munk diffuse reflectance theory to optical fibre sensors

Abstract

The Kubelka-Munk theory has been applied to a reflectance-based optical fibre pH sensor and the validity of its application has been established. This enables the concentration of the immobilised reagent to be determined and allows the prediction of the response of the pH sensor. A comparison of the theoretical and measured responses of this sensor is presented.
