Novel chelating resins with remarkably high selectivities for copper(II) over zinc(II) ions

Abstract

Poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) and poly(glycidyl methacrylate-co-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) resins carrying 2-aminomethyl pyridine and 2-pyridyl-2-imidazole ligands show remarkably high selectivity for the extraction of copper(II) ions in the presence of a large excess of zinc(II) ions.
