Preparation and structure of [Tc2(SC6H4S)4]·CHCl3, a technetium–dithiolate dimer of novel trigonal prismatic geometry

Abstract

Reaction of benzene-1,2-dithiol with NH4TcO4 yields, from chloroform, the dimeric complex [Tc2(bdt)4]· CHCl3(bdt = benzene-1,2-dithiolate)(1) which has a new co-ordination geometry with a Tc2S8 core consisting of two trigonal prisms joined by a quadrilateral face.
