Direct replacement of an agostic hydrogen atom by an isolobal gold ligand; X-ray crystal structure of [(η5-C5H5)MoMn(µ-PPh2){µ–σ : η4-CH(Me)CHCHAu(PMe2Ph)}(CO)4]

Abstract

Treatment of the complex [(η5-C5H5)MoMn(µ-PPh2){µ–σ : η4-CH(Me)CHCH2}(CO)4](1a) with [AuCl(PMe2Ph)] in the presence of base gives [(η5-C5H5)MoMn(µ-PPh2){µ–σ : η4-CH(Me)CHCHAu(PMe2Ph)}(CO)4](2); X-ray structure analysis of (2) confirms that this reaction provides the first example of the direct replacement of an agostic hydrogen atom by a similarly bonded isolobal gold ligand.
