Novel products of 1,4-addition of alcohols to 5-ethenyl-3,4-dihydro-4-isopropylidene-2,2-dimethyl-2H-pyrrole
Abstract
Reactions of 5-ethenyl-3,4-dihydro-4-isopropylidene-2,2-dimethyl-2H-pyrrole (2) with a variety of alcohols led to formation of the 1,4-addition products (4) rather than the 2-alkoxypyrrolidine derivatives [e.g.(7)]. On distillation the adducts (4) suffered thermal rearrangement to the 5-(2-alkoxyethyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrroles (5).
